The market did not really know what to expect from Trump on Friday, he was put in front of an international audience of both government and business leaders. His sole aim was to try and lure investors to the US and to be fair to him, he dropped the chip from his shoulder and delivered his pleas in a non-confrontational way. The result could come with mixed results, if he attracts investment dollars then less goods will need to be imported – which will obviously affect inflation. With a weaker dollar, and a favourable tax treatment the US is surely making it tempting for the rest of the world to invest, and this will strengthen the dollar.
The market seems somewhat confused this morning and I suspect that today will be a “washout” today. The stochastics don’t really show much opportunity today, the overriding theme continues to be support in US stocks and selling of the greenback – neither really make much sense, but it’s hard not to follow the trend.
I don’t see much opportunity today, but the video covers the fact that I will be monitoring the AUDUSD and USDCAD with a little bit of interest.
