The good news is that the US government started opening up last night as the Senate put a deal into action, this was the catalyst for the greenback to stage a mini recovery against most of the major pairs last night. I am still on the side lines this week as the World Economic Forum begins in earnest and I am still a little concerned that there could be some market moving headlines, and so I prefer to trade the indices.
The big mover yesterday was the GBPUSD, the pair moved from 1.3900 in the morning to test 1.4000, not even a small bid in the dollar could halt the momentum. The move above 1.3950 was in all likely a run on stops. A big psychological level at 1.4000 remains the major resistance for the sellers and I would not be surprised if this is where sellers start to build offers. This is the pair that I would be watching this morning.
It is covered more in the videos this morning, but I would be inclined to trade the indices this morning to avoid the possible volatility for the rest of the week.
